Recycling

Christmas tree recycling drop off locations

Lake Metroparks has convenient Christmas tree recycling drop off locations throughout Lake County. Trees will be chipped and the chips then composted or used as mulch at various Lake Metroparks locations.

Tree bins will be installed at the parks listed below the week of December 17 and removed about January 17. Click on the park name for park information, including driving directions:

Lake Metroparks collaborates with other county agencies to collectively increase the amount of materials currently recycled in our community to equal previous levels, and then surpass that to set new records for materials recycled within Lake County.

Everyone in the community can help save landfill space, clean up the environment, and earn money for Lake Metroparks by taking recyclable paper to Abitibi Paper Retrievers located in the following Lake Metroparks:

Special Recycling Collections

Scrap Tire Collection

Household Hazardous Waste Collection

Acceptable – oil/enamel/etc paints, paint products, aerosols, automotive
fuels, motor oil, grease, household batteries, lead acid batteries, propane tanks, drive sealers, tars, adhesives, fire extinguishers, kerosene, gasoline, diesel fuel, fluorescent bulbs, mercury, pesticides (liquid, powder, granular), cleaners (acids/bases/oxidizers), reactives.

Unacceptable – water base paints, explosives, ammunition, medical wastes, radioactive wastes.

The Lake County Solid Waste District, the Lake County Commissioners, and the Lake County Department of Utilities provide these "special recycling collections." These collections are for Lake County residents only. For more information call (440) 350-2750 or (440) 350-2582.
