Dogs have been used to herd animals since man first domesticated livestock. The border collie is one of the oldest existing dog breeds. These highly intelligent and versatile dogs have been used for herding, hunting and guide dogs. They have served in both World Wars as messengers, rescue and mine detection dogs. Farmpark’s border collie, Maddie, performs daily herding demonstrations for our guests and aids the staff in moving sheep to and from different pastures for grazing. You can help support Maddie through one of Farmpark’s Barnyard Parent sponsorship packages.
