Veterans Park protects the largest inland pond in the county and a remnant of original Ohio swamp forest. The park offers four accessible fishing piers, a 1.78-mile loop trail though native wetlands with 830 feet of boardwalk, and a wetland/wildlife viewing area. Granger Pond is generally stocked with catfish, bass, bluegill and rainbow trout. The property was purchased from The Granger Family by the City of Mentor in 1970 and was Mentor's first neighborhood park.

  • Amenities: 100 acres. Handicapped accessible. Pier for fishing. Picnic area with grills. Picnic shelter with fireplace. Drinking water. Restrooms. Hiking trails. Playground. Volleyball courts. Ball/game fields. Pay phone.
  • Hours: Sunrise to sunset.
  • Directions: Take Route 2 to the Route 615 exit and go north for about one mile to the Munson Road/Center Street intersection. Drive north on Route 615 (Center Street) for about one half mile to Hopkins Road and continue north to Veterans Park, located on the left (west) side of the road.
