Learning in and through nature helps set the stage for a new generation of healthy, active children growing up both loving nature and understanding human dependence on healthy ecosystems.

Being able to run, climb and discover is at the very core of Lake Metroparks. Adventure Play at Jordan Creek Park provides a fun venue to develop confidence with physical challenges in a social and interactive natural setting.

If you haven’t checked it out yet, now is the time to explore the new and exciting natural playground in your park system! Adventure Play was created in the same theme as Nature Play (located at Penitentiary Glen Reservation) but is designed for kids ages 7 and older and has elements and obstacles that challenge balance and climbing ability. While there, you will find two ziplines that you can zoom across, a slackline forest, lookout towers connected by a 30-foot rope bridge, and the impressive Noble Wall (funding provided by the Lake Parks Foundation in memory of former executive director Dave Noble), which stands 15 feet tall that you can traverse across.

Adventure Play is conveniently located next to the main parking lot. While at the park, explore miles of trails, walk Jordan Creek, visit the Environmental Learning Center, or ride your bike on the Greenway Corridor.

WHAT IS ADVENTURE PLAY?

Adventure Play is open from sunrise to sunset.

Natural play spaces contain mainly natural materials designed to encourage hands-on manipulation and discovery. Natural elements provide inspiration, allowing children to shape their environment and at the same time, exercise judgment and fine motor skills. These activities motivate cooperation through play and encourage social interaction.

Natural play spaces help children understand, appreciate and value nature’s ecosystems. Frequent visits to a nature play space foster a kinship with nature and promote a greater understanding of our place in the natural world.

WHAT CAN I FIND AT ADVENTURE PLAY AT Jordan Creek Park?

Adventure Play at Jordan Creek Park features interactive sites designed to engage children in creative and imaginative play. There is no start or finish, nor map or suggested route. Kids are encouraged to chart their own course of adventure through this outdoor play maze. Adventure Play is a challenging and active area; closed-toe shoes are highly recommended for the comfort and safety of visitors.
