Rate: $10.50/hr. starting rate based on prior experience/education.
Location: Kevin P. Clinton Wildlife Center in Kirtland, Ohio
Brief Description: Under supervision of the Wildlife Care Manager, the Seasonal Wildlife Care Specialist provides follow through in animal care duties including but are not limited to; nutritional needs, nursing/weaning schedules, post op care, medication, triage, pre-release conditioning, housing, and release. Position entails working with native Ohio wildlife, wildlife rescues, department errands and other tasks as assigned. Ensures animal’s needs are being met through the rehabilitation process, rehabilitation research, and ensures that animals are being handled in a manner which maximizes human and animal safety.
Requirements: Must be pursuing a degree in zoology, wildlife management, animal care or related field. Must have strong customer service skills and be able to work evenings, weekends and holidays. Able to work quickly, efficiently and calmly under stressful conditions. Must be able to work cooperatively with co-workers and the public. Be creative, flexible, well-organized, and innovative. Must be able to lift fifty (50) pounds, bend & stoop. Valid Ohio driver’s license must be insurable by Lake Metroparks auto insurance. Background check required.
