Rate: $10.50/hr. – starting rate based on prior experience/education.
Location: Kevin P. Clinton Wildlife Center in Kirtland, Ohio
Brief Description: Under supervision of the Wildlife Education Manager, the Seasonal Wildlife Education Specialist assists in the development and daily operation of the Wildlife Center Day Camp program at Lake Metroparks Wildlife Center. Provide leadership, supervision, and safety for small groups (size of 9-15 children, ages 6-15) while participating in indoor and outdoor classic day camp and Wildlife Center activities. Duties include but are not limited to, assisting in the development of wildlife related activities, conducting camp type games, maintaining attendance records for campers and leading off-site field trips. When not in camp, present interpretive programming, and participate in special events as assigned.
Requirements: Must be able to deal effectively with children between the ages of 6-15. Counselors must be outgoing, able to establish rapport with children, imaginative, creative and exhibit excellent communication skills. Counselors must demonstrate background in working with children in outdoor recreation. Wildlife, animal care or natural history interest desirable. Valid Ohio driver’s license must be insurable by Lake Metroparks auto insurance. Background check required.
