​Thrills and chills on snow-covered hills!
Sledding is one of the most popular winter activities in the parks. Four different places are available for a day of thrills on the hills. In the eastern end of Lake County there are two very popular spots to sled: Hidden Valley Park and Riverview Park, both located in Madison Township. In the western end, popular hills to sled are found at Chagrin River Park in Eastlake and Chapin Forest Reservation in Kirtland.
Chagrin River Park offers a moderate hill located off the Riverwood trail. Fire ring with firewood. From the Reeves Rd. parking lot, follow the trail toward the river to the moderate sledding hill. Restrooms open. Sledding is permitted until one-half hour after sunset.
Chapin Forest Reservation has a small hill used primarily by cross-country skiers to practice control skills on. This hill doubles as a sledding opportunity for young children and is located off the Hobart Road entrance to the park. A fireplace is located at the picnic shelter; wood may be provided as available and staff is able to supply during the winter. Restrooms open. Additional lighting provided. Sledding permitted until 11 pm.
Hidden Valley Park with its smaller slope, is ideal for smaller children just beginning to sled. The moderate sledding hill is located next to the parking lot. A fire ring is located near the picnic shelter; wood may be provided as available and staff is able to supply during the winter. Restrooms open. Additional lighting provided. Sledding permitted until 11 pm.
Riverview Park offers the steepest, most thrilling sledding hill available in the park district. The sledding hill is located next to the parking lot. A fire ring is located near the picnic shelter; wood may be provided as available and staff is able to supply during the winter. Restrooms open. Additional lighting provided. Sledding permitted until 11 pm.
