Don’t stay inside when lake effect snow hits! Winter is an excellent time to enjoy the outdoors in a way you can’t during the rest of the year—by sledding! There’s no shortage of sledding spots in Lake Metroparks—here are some of the best:
Riverview Park Not for the faint of heart, this park boasts the highest and steepest sledding hill in all of Lake Metroparks! This sledding hill is located next to the parking lot and includes a fire ring and picnic shelter on site. There’s additional lighting to enjoy your downhill adventures after dark. Sledding is permitted until the park closes at 11 pm.
Hidden Valley Park This sledding hill has been thrilling visitors for generations! It’s a moderate hill that’s perfect for all ages and is conveniently located near the parking lot. When you’re ready for a break in the action, a playground, picnic shelter, and fire ring are just a short walk away! Additional lighting allows you to have fun even after dark. Sledding is permitted until the park closes at 11 pm.
Chagrin River Park Chagrin River Park’s sledding hill is perfect for those who aren’t quite ready for Hidden Valley or Riverview. Located a short walk from the Reeves Road parking lot, simply follow the trail along the river to the sledding hill. Take a break from the action and warm up at the fire ring located near the bottom of the hill. Sledding is permitted until 30 minutes after sunset.
Chapin Forest Reservation For little ones just starting out, Chapin Forest Reservation has a perfect sledding hill! The hill is primarily used for cross-country skiers to practice control skills, but can be a great spot for a child’s first sledding adventure. This hill is located near the Hobart Road entrance to Chapin Forest Reservation. Additional lighting allows your little ones to enjoy their sledding adventure after dark. Sledding is permitted until the park closes at 11 pm.
