Lake Metroparks entered a cooperative lease agreement with the Painesville Township Park commissioners in 1991 to operate and manage the park. Since that time, more than one million dollars worth of improvements have been made to the park, including extensive renovation of the dance hall and ball fields. The pier is accessible 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Lake Metroparks and the Painesville Township Board of Park Commissioners partnered on a shoreline project that included protection of the shoreline, the 200′ pier and ADA access to Lake Erie and its spectacular views, sunsets, fishing and summer breezes.
Although park hours are 6 am to 11 pm, the pier is accessible 24 hours a day, seven days a week, but will be closed during inclement weather. For safety and enjoyment of the pier:
The dance hall, renovated in 1992 and now called the Community Center to reflect the many uses of the facility, is host to recreational and community programs and rentals.
The building may be rented for private functions when not being used for park-sponsored programs. The handicap-accessible facility consists of a large hall with a 5,000 square-foot wooden dance floor; seating at tables and chairs for 225 people; a kitchen and concession area; and restrooms. Catering and event planning assistance is available.
